Coachee3

Note : This update was not posted. Maybe due to internet failure.
It was quite a challenge to select a coachee towards the end of the year as every one was tight with updating schedule of work accomplishment.

First approaching my coachee had to be carried out at the side of the his table. Getting his agrrement to be my coachee was a relieve to me as I do not have to search for another replacement. The expextation from the coaching was initially misunderstood but I hope he will understood as the I am planning to have the second session of briefing with a more condussive enviroment.

I am planning to carry out an open concept session, where my coachee is allowed to peovide his own opinion during and along the coaching session.

This may be challenging for the both of us and may require a shift from the traditional ideas of hierarchy to some different ways of envisioning our relationships. However, there is significant evidence that these different ways of working can improve the quality of working life, enhance productivity and support the growth in increasingly chaotic and rapidly changing business environments.

Hopefully, the payoffs will provide more and better results, the personal satisfaction of my coachee.

Coach and coachee relationship will make interaction carried out through conversation. But right
from the onset it needs to be made clear that the practice of coaching is not the practice of psychiatry. Coz psychology looks familiar for many of us but its application to coaching has major drawbacks.

Coachee2

“HELPING OTHERS HELP THEMSELVES”
This title “Helping others to help themselves” may sound quite simple to some, but that is exactly what coaching should be all about. The simply implementation of the idea, though, does not in any way reduce its power to transform people for their better.

Self-Generated coached people are made to realize from the onset that they can always improve. As such they will always be able to find ways to do their own. They become self-energized and pro-active. They start to practice more, they observe and learn from how others perform or they’ll learn an activity that will strengthen them in a new way that improves or expands their competence. The amount of work that a manager can perform by himself or herself is inversely
proportional to the magnitude and scale of responsibility.

So here comes the importance of power of coaching to a subordinate. And to start to coach the coaching, of course I need a coachee.

When I approached my subordinate for permission to become a coachee, his first reaction was "Do he need to reply in writing?". I said, "Not required". The next question he asked was," What he will have to do during the coaching?" I said," Just answer simple questions". So he agrees.

The lucky coachee is Mohd Nizan.

Voice of Leadership - Coachee1

When I attended the Voice of Leadership (VOL) on 03-05 Nov 2008, the real test in me was to discover my own value.

Coachee?, what choachee? Leaving the classroom of COACHING on 5 December 2008 at the UEM Leadership Centre makes me feel much better as a coach. With stillClearly in my mind of the techniques, skill and method of coaching the coachee that I have just acquired from the coaches makes me very optimistic to become a leader.

Realising that there are so many coachees available and hunger to be coached but then time permission must be granted first from my daily schedules. Attending the coaching class makes me realised that a coach do always tries to help others (coachee) to perform but yet the desired performance is not achieved and target is not met. Thinking about this makes me ponders where has gone not at the right path or misrouted.

I have realize that an effective coach is who is Patient, Detached, Supportive, Interested, A good listener, Perceptive, Aware, Self-aware, Attentive and Retentive.

However, I'm yet to select a coachee. I do not see the right candidate yet. May be next week.
